St. Catharines, ON – This morning, BUSU Vice President University Affairs Damien O’Brien made a presentation made to the Police Services Board of the Region of Niagara regarding student issues and taxicabs.
BUSU President James O’Brien said “this is an important issue in the region that the Students’ Union is happy to spearhead. Safety is so important to all citizens of the Niagara Region.” The key issues raised were: passenger safety, fairness in pricing, and the limit on the number of available cabs. “Our comments were well received” said VPUA Damien O’Brien, after his presentation to the Board.
The issue was referred to the licensing committee of the Board for further consideration.
“The Students’ Union will continue to push this issue and it’s great to have the support of the community moving forward” VPUA Damien O’Brien concluded.
