Brock Students Ready to Aim with Grantsreloaded.ca

Brock students have officially joined the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA) campaign to renew the Canadian Millennium Scholarship Foundation (CMSF). CMSF currently puts about $350 million/year in the hands of students who require financial assistance entering and excelling in their post-secondary endeavours.
James O’Brien, President of the Brock University Students’ Union said, “The reality is that the CMSF contributes approximately 30% of all student financial aid into the system. Currently with CMSF in place, approximately one in every three students that receives financial aid receives that aid from the CMSF. Without the program in place, one of those students won’t receive any financial assistance towards their education.”
The Grants Reloaded campaign is straightforward: students in need go to www.grantsreloaded.ca, sign up and tell their story. This campaign is an easy way for all students to support themselves and each other through lobbying for the renewal of the Canadian Millennium Scholarship Foundation.
O’Brien further stressed that “the CMSF has literally been a life changing experience for some of the recipients. 95% of the grants are awarded on a needs basis, so this allows individuals access to post-secondary education who otherwise may never have had the opportunity to partake in the pursuit of higher education.”
Established in 1971, the Brock University Students’ Union is a not-for-profit student organization, representing 17,000 students and members of the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations since 2001.
