Brock Lobbies for Students Future
Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) is working hard to ensure that present as well as future students are able to enjoy an affordable post-secondary education. The need for accessibility to the post-secondary education system is paramount in Canada so that the vital resource of an educated population can be at the forefront of a knowledge- based economy.
“BUSU lobbies with the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA) because there is an inherent need for the federal government to continue its support of the post-secondary education system, which in turn will ensure a prosperous future for Canada” stated James O’Brien, President of Brock University Students’ Union.
CASA held its annual Lobby Conference in the nation’s capital from November 12th-16th. This year’s conference was a great success with delegates meeting with over 170 Members of Parliament (MPs) and other important political staff members.
“‘Lobby Con’ was an effective effort, it was a time for student leaders from across the country to address the needs of their constituents and work towards ensuring that all individuals are able to access the post-secondary education system. With this accessibility, students will be able to position themselves and Canada in the emerging knowledge based economy” explained O’Brien.
Established in 1971, the Brock University Students’ Union is a not-for-profit student organization, representing 17,000 students.
