The Brock University Students' Union Executives Welcomes Students during SMART Start 2008
St. Catharines ON, June 26, 2008: The Brock University Students’ Union(BUSU) Executive team began welcoming new students to Brock University on June 23, 2008 in conjunction with Brock’s SMART (Students Making a Real
Transition) Start program. Soon to be 1st year students flock to the
Brock campus each day until August 8, 2008. “It’s great to see the groups
of 30 to 60 students walk through our building twice a day looking excited
and kind of scared to start in September, because that is exactly what I
was like going into my first year,” said Jody Thomas, BUSU President.
SMART Start is a summer program run by Brock University that aids in the transition of student from high School to University life at Brock. While at SMART Start, students get acquainted with a number of the services and programs offered at Brock University and BUSU. The BUSU Executive team
will be delivering two presentations a day until the end of SMART Start
focusing on the services, programs, structure and events BUSU offers its
members. “I remember going to my SMART Start presentation from BUSU. I
was sitting there and thinking this school seems just right for me and I
want to be the President of this organization one day.’ SMART Start is
when I first decided to get involved in Brock and BUSU, and I’m glad I did
because look where I am now.” Thomas recalled.
