The Brock University Students’ Union 2008 Executive
Hit the Ground Running.
St. Catharines ON, June 1, 2008: The 2008/09 Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) Executive hit the ground running on their first day of office, May 1, 2008 and have not looked back. BUSU President Jody Thomas; Vice-President, Finance & Administration William Crothers; Vice-President, University Affairs Rob Lanteigne; and Vice-President, Student Services Mark Wrzosek had all been working tirelessly for months before their first official days in office. The team hired nine (9) new staff to start May 1st, acquainted themselves with the Students’ Union, and went through an intensive transition process from their predecessors and BUSU’s management team. “It is pretty incredible: four guys who had never really worked together, from four different programs, with different priorities and opinions have come together to create a dynamic and effective team,” Thomas commented.
Only one month into their term, the new BUSU Executives are in high gear planning Orientation Week ‘08, Shinerama ‘08, Community Barbeques, preparing the 2008 budget, lobbying local elected officials and countless other initiatives that will come to fruition during their term that ends April 30, 2009. When asked about the experience so far, Thomas replied, “we are only a month in and I feel like we have done about six months of work and have so much more to do. We only have a year to accomplish everything, and even though the task seems daunting, we are confident that with this team we can make this a year to remember in BUSU.”
