O-Week 2007 “The Next Frontier” measures up with Metric.

BUSU, in conjunction with Access Gold, handed out students their first lesson plan of the 2007 year: Rocking Out 1F90. As night fell, students made their way to Weather Station Field and started chanting “Metric!” Before the Montreal group took to the stage, students were introduced to an up and coming band from New York City, We are Scientists. BUSU President James O’Brien thought this band was the perfect opening act for the event, “We are Scientists were great, they were funny between songs and once they finished everyone was talking about them.”

Once the band from the big apple left the stage, students resumed the “Metric!” chants. Between sets the BUSU Executive took to the stage, welcoming everyone to the event and throwing out free swag to the crowd. “When we got up there and heard all the students screaming and yelling, I had goose bumps and realized why we do this, to make sure students have a great year and get all they can out of their university experience” O’Brien explained.

Metric took to the stage around 9:30pm and played a very entertaining show for close to 2 hours. When asked how he thought the event went, O’Brien had this to say “After the show everyone seemed pumped about the concert, I even had students coming up to me and saying that we had to have Metric back again later in the year. I think this event went great and BUSU, Access Gold and Isaac’s really gave the students a great experience.”
