The following pages detail the legislation that has been passed in various forms by the governmental arms of BUSU.


The legislative hierarchy of BUSU is as follows:

  • federal, provincial and municipal law
  • a decision by the BUSU membership in a Referendum or General Meeting
  • the Constitution (passed by the membership in a Referendum)
  • Standing Orders (decisions) of the Board of Directors (may contravene lower level legislation, but expire at the end of each year)
  • Policies and Procedures (passed by the Board of Directors)
  • Standing Orders (decisions) of BUSAC (may contravene lower level legislation, but expire at the end of each year)
  • BUSU Bylaws (passed by BUSAC)
  • Political Policy (passed by BUSAC)
  • Decisions of the Executive Committee and staff


Standing Orders and Political Policy may be found by consulting the meeting minutes from the appropriate governing bodies.
