New BUSU Website

Welcome to the brand new BUSU Website! In this post, we’ll discuss some of the new features, and why we decided to launch a new BUSU.net.

Towards the end of last year, we realized our current system for managing the content was not working as well as we liked, so we decided to make a switch. This is what we came up. The front-end of the site looks and works better for our users, and the back-end looks and works better for BUSU, so we can ensure we always deliver the most consistent, up to date information possible. Here’s a few of the new features we’ve implemented:

AutoComplete Search Functionality
The old BUSU site had no search functionality and that was a big problem. We’ve added a search bar to our menu, so if you can’t easily find what you are looking for, you can always search for it. The search also comes with Auto Complete functionality, which will suggest options as you type.

New Navigation System
We’ve completely revamped our navigation system. The new menu features multiple columns, and groups similar items under more common headings. More options are provided via the main menu, so you can get the content you want quickly and easily.

Modified Home Page Layout
We’ve re-worked our home page layout to be more efficient. Our content slider is larger, and allows for more informative banners. We have also placed a scrolling Twitter Ticker, which shows our latest tweets. Our new system has been completely reworked, and provides filterable categories, so you can find exactly what you’re looking for.

Some features we’ve implemented aren’t fully utilized yet, but you’ll notice them much more as the school year draws nearer. Some of these include:

  • a brand new site-wide events system
  • filterable home page new
  • Ask BUSU feedback form in the footer of every page
  • A reworked back end to ensure the most up to date content possible
  • And more coming!

If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to email Jordan – [email protected]! We’d love to hear from you!
